National Youth Conference
The National Youth Conference
Organised and Run by Young People for Young People
Who are the organisers?
UK Youth Voice (UKYV) is a group of young people between 16 & 25, who are elected by their peers. The elections take place at this annual conference. The group is made up of representatives of young people from the regions of England, the Channel Islands and from Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. UKYV is a key part of the UK Youth network and is seen as a model of good practice in the field of youth participation.
Members of UKYV have a real say. They regularly interview for staff at both national and local levels. They have representatives on the board of trustees for UK Youth. Individual members have sat on local youth club committees and UK Youth network association boards.
What do we do?
- We help shape the services provided by UK Youth.
- We organise the annual conference based on themes of current interest to young people.
- We run the workshops so that we can discuss issues of importance with other young people.
- We are the voice for young people, bringing issues to the attention of government and other decision-makers.
- We meet regularly throughout the year.
- We attend events where the views of young people are needed.
- We make ourselves heard!
Two night’s accommodation at Avon Tyrrell Activity Centre in The New Forest, meals, workshops and activities for £120 + VAT.
It is not aimed at youth / support workers, but for young people. If youth / support workers want to come to Avon Tyrrell that weekend, they will be very welcome but it is not envisaged that they will join the workshops. The cost will be the same (to include accommodation and food) and workers will be free to visit neighbouring Bournemouth or explore the New Forest during the day times.
