___________________________________________________________________________

Wednesday 3rd March @ NOISELAB, Market Street
17.30 for a 18.00 start till 20.00

“How to Survive in the Ever-Evolving Music Industry”
With Elliot Rashman (Happy Mondays Manager) & Techno DJ Mistress De Funk (BBC R1 & Sankey’s)

Musician? Producer? Songwriter? Manager? DJ? Singer?

Looking for that big break in the music industry?

A lot has changed in the music industry since those ‘Madchester’ times, when Elliot managed indie outfit Happy Mondays & Simply Red. People are less inclined to spend money on music now due to the freedom of internet sharing and wannabes looking for a quick route to success through the likes of the X Factor, and Britain’s Got Talent. Unfortunately this has left a lot of young artists with no idea of how to manage themselves, or how to develop as an artist.

Elliot will talk about the ways in which the music industry has changed, and will provide tools and knowledge for surviving in the industry as it is in its current guise.
–

Elliot Rashman is now semi-retired and devotes much of his time to selectively mentoring and coaching young artistes from all the creative disciplines – he specialises in encouraging them to wake up and smell the coffee. Elliot likens to working in today’s music business to ‘tap dancing on the Titanic’.

Elliot has worked in and around the music business for thirty years. In that time he has managed and worked with a diverse selection of artistes including Simply Red, Happy Mondays, James, Ian McCulloch and the Lightning Seeds.

All tickets are Free. To book go to http://elliotrashmanlab.eventbrite.com/

Submit your creativity now to www.NOISEfestival.com

Thinking about starting your own creative business?

Trying to get your new venture up and running?

Want to know how to promote, programme, design & sustain your business?

Want to know how to make your entrepreneurial mark in the creative industries?

NOISE welcomes creative entrepreneur David Vincent. David runs the most successful club in Manchester – Sankeys and also promoted the legendary Hacienda, and Pacha in Ibiza. At this intimate session he will talk about
– running a venue
– promoting events
– sustaining a creative enterprise.

David is a killer business man, and will offer invaluable insight and advice, answering any questions you may have about the music business.

He comes from the old school days, working with the likes of Tony Wilson – though continuing to be current and successful, always adapting as changing trends emerge. From design, to programming, to promotion, he will talk through all aspects of running a creative business. Come and utilise this opportunity to hear from the best in the business.
